2024 ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS

 

The Directors of the Eddie Aikau Foundation and the Aikau Family would like to congratulate the 26 Students who were selected as winners of the 2024 Eddie Would Go Essay Contest.

 

We have been conducting this essay competition since 2006 and we are the only essay contest in the State that has an English and Hawaiian language division. This year we received an amazing 388 English essays submitted for judging and 33 essays written in Hawaiian. These essay submissions were received from students in 33 different schools, public, private, charter and also homeschooled students are eligible. These schools are located in all the islands.

We'd also like to thank over 70 volunteers who donated their time to the difficult task of selecting the winning essays from so many excellent submissions. 

 

We'd like to express our sincere appreciation to every student who participated and the parents and teachers who supported & encouraged their efforts. We hope that all of you enjoyed learning about Eddie Aikau and that you may find inspiration from his legacy of aloha.

 

We are very grateful to our sponsors;  Hawaiian Airlines which flew the winning students, their parents & teachers from the neighbor islands so they could attend the awards ceremony on Oahu; Polynesian Adventure Tours which provided the bus for transportation to & from the event; Waimea Valley Park-Hi’ipaka LLC for hosting the awards presentations and providing a wonderful venue to honor our students; COSTA Sunglasses which provided great merchandise for our winning students.
